EXMAR KICKS OFF FLRSU CONSTRUCTION

Exmar has started construction of Pacific Rubiales' bi-directional barge-based floating liquefaction, regasification and storage unit planned for a site on Colombia's northern coast.

The South American operator said that an environmental licence for a pipeline to transport feedstock gas from the La Creciente field to the LNG project is "expected shortly".

Wison Offshore & Marine was tapped by Exmar to build the world's first FLRSU at its shipyard in Nantong, China. Black & Veatch will provide the topsides.

The project will have 14,000 cubic metres of onboard storage and a 140,000-cbm LNG carrier will be moored alongside to be used as a floating storage unit.

Operations are set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2014. Pacific Rubiales has previously revealed long-term ambitions to double production capacity at the smallscale floating liquefaction project.

The aim is to add 70 million cubic feet per day of liquefaction capacity in order to monetise all its reserves.
