Y los regasificadores se frotan las manos y aumentan flota...

Menudo chollo que han encontrado las navieras que se dedican a la regasificación y el STS. Ante los costos y plazos de construcción de terminales nuevas ellos ofrecen soluciones temporales que solventan el problema a paises con problemas de recursos y tiempo. US regasification specialist Excelerate Energy is in talks with shipyards about ordering additional vessels as it looks to expand its fleet to meet upcoming project requirements.

Company president Rob Bryngelson said: "Things are under negotiation. We are looking at more vessels and larger vessels." The largest LNG carriers in Excelerate's existing fleet are 150,900-cbm.

He said the company is also looking at smaller ships for use in conjunction with its existing fleet in a hub and spoke arrangement. "It's a concept we're pushing forward on," he added.But Bryngelson declined to confirm whether Excelerate is sitting on options to build additional floating storage and regasification units at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering where the company has recently confirmed a 173,400-cbm FSRU on the back of a charter from Petrobras for the VT3 project.

Excelerate detailed this week that the FSRU newbuilding, which is the largest of its kind ordered to date, will be chartered in to Petrobras for a 15 year period. It also will be capable of functioning as a fully tradable LNG carrier.Delivery of the FSRU newbuilding is scheduled for May 2014. In the interim, from July 2013.

Excelerate will supply Petrobras with one of its existing FSRUs, the 150,900-cbm Exquisite (built 2009).Excelerate is rebranding its owned regas fleet as FSRUs. The company has previously referred to them as regasification vessels.
